Some frequently asked questions online about Starlight Headliner Cover Kits are: Which Starlight Head Cover is right for my vehicle? How many stars should I get for my Starlight title?
There are many different options for buying a Starlight prep kit online, and it can often be confusing as to which kit will work best. At Starlight Custom, we recommend a kit based on the size of your car to determine what type of Starlight headliner you should get if it has a sunroof, as well as your vehicle’s class and budget.
To find the best kit for your vehicle, you can follow our shop guide here.
The components of the kit can change in 3 different ways as the size and class of the vehicle change. We have listed the details below.
Optical fiber light output. The fiber optic light is mounted on the roof of your car and then goes to a light source hidden somewhere in the vehicle. Larger vehicles, such as full-size sedans, have a larger front end and require a higher number of stars to cover proper space. For example, we recommend an average of 150 – 350 stars for an average two-door coupe, whereas a full-size SUV might claim between 600 – 1500 stars depending on size. Please read our store guide to find the right kit for your vehicle.
The power of the lamp motor: The light motor is the power source of the Starlight headliners. It has a bright LED that shines through an optical fiber to display on your header. Some light motors may also have a “sparkle motor” with a perforated metal disc that rotates to block the light array, creating a “flicker” effect towards the end of the fiber. The output power of the light source can be increased from 6 watts (W) to 50W.
To determine the right power source for your vehicle. The output is linked to the amount of light needed to properly fill the header. A higher power source is required for more light to ensure that the lights are bright enough to create the correct starlight experience. There is not enough electricity and almost no lights to be seen! A 6W power source might be good for about 150-200 lights, but higher wattage is required for things to work.
Fiber length: Fiber optic lights can come in a variety of lengths, as well as diameters, to suit different applications. Lighting typically varies from 6.5 feet to about 16.5 feet depending on the size of the vehicle and where the light source is expected to be stored. Of course, smaller vehicles like two-door coupes only need 6.5 feet, in contrast to larger vehicles, which are between 9.8 feet and 13.1 feet in length, and will have to fit.
You can also purchase starlight sets with lamps of different diameters. In our opinion, your car needs a variety of lights to get the most out of Starlight headliners. Different lights will give your title a realistic “three-dimensional” effect with varying magnitudes of brightness because some of the smaller stars will appear farther away and the larger stars will appear more distant. looks closer and more intense. All the premium and elite kits offered by us will normally come with three different diameter lights (0.03in, 0.04in, and 0.06in).
